Get Over It 04:32
You thought you lived like a movie star, breakfast was sushi and caviar, never suspect that you went too far, but now you live in your rental car. You never thought that you would ever be ashamed. You took your time defending every step that you take. You always knew there would be someone to blame but every check you wrote was screaming your name. Every second chance comes about ’cause you’re stuck in a pit. Every second chance lets you build a bridge and get over it. Every second chance is just another turn to dance, so don’t tell me that you can’t you know that you can g- g- get over it. You think that you’re getting cynical; you used to think life was beautiful. Maybe you feel hypocritical, but baby you’re not that pitiful. You keep on persevering if you’re not dead, you can’t wait for the cheering just to get out of bed. You learn from all the shit that hurts you instead and never let it all get over your head. And it’s okay if you fall down ’cause even William Shatner failed and he’s still hanging ’round. He came back to save the day. You’re not him, but that’s okay, I still love you anyway. Let It Rain 03:19
I’m gonna build myself a boat and take a trip to distant lands I’ll get low in Nova Scotia and get high in Amsterdam And I’ll float away from everything that’s here I’ll just pack my bags, the band, and all the beer. We’ll be the pirates of the freeway setting sail for love and fame floating high above the rooftops. So please God don’t stop the rain. ’cause I need me some respite from my routine so set sail for someplace I have never seen. Let it rain, let it rain, let it rain. All this muddy water’s getting to my brain. As the flood comes in I’m happy all the same, same, same, Let it rain, let it rain, let it rain. My foundation’s under water so I’ll build a submarine Ringo Starr could be her captain she’d be powered by caffeine Just like me and all the songs I sing today So say goodbye and watch my troubles float away. (Chorus) I wish the sun would go away, I wish the sun would go away, I wish the sun would go away, don’t make me work today. (Chorus) Let it rain, let it rain, let it rain. All this goddamn water’s getting to my brain. As the flood comes in I’m happy all the same, same, same, Let it rain, let it rain, let it rain. Music and Lyrics © Matthew Ebel Entertainment

Here’s a cautionary tale about the king of all that was for sale and some mice who were at war like they’d been a thousand years before. To a mouse the king called down, “I can help you win your tiny crown” Sell you swords, my price is fair. You will rule the other mice, I swear.” So the mouse went forth to fight, but the king he got no sleep that night. Or any other night for days, tiny battles kept him wide awake. The king went mad from lack of sleep. He ran away and they boarded up his keep. The mice consumed the empty home, they partied on the mad king’s throne. Music and Lyrics © Matthew Ebel Entertainment

The days are rolling on. Like the waves they move so fast and then they’re gone. And then there’s you and I we could try to ride or let them pass us by. We could roam around the earth collecting photos, stamps, and shirts or we could lie here in the sun for all its worth. We could be chickens in the surf. I look up at the sky and I wonder what it must be like to fly. Is everything so small that we’re better off on the wing over it all? We could roam around the earth collecting scratches, dents, and dirt or we could lie here in the sun for all its worth. We could be chickens in the surf. (Instrumental) We could roam around the earth collecting bruises, bumps, and worse or we could lie here in the sun for all its worth. Let’s just be chickens in the surf. Shawn and Jamey showed me photographs of everything they did before the crash. I thought that I was watching over them, but it seems that I’m the one behind the glass. What could I do? It was always one on two. They stole the photos from my memory: The three of us worked through the night. We tortured mice to save humanity, but I never felt that it was right. What could I say? It was always done that way. Shawn and Jamey, they’re just fine. They got what they want and I got mine. I’m in my padded room with all the rest of you singing this song about Jamey and Shawn. Well I suppose I had it coming when I grew a pair and took a stand. So they decided I was one of them: Just a mouse and not a man. Well how should I feel? I’d run away if I could leave this wheel. The final photo showed me as I am: A rodent trapped inside a box. And now I see what they have always been: A hungry wolf and hungry fox. But how could I see? They were always testing me. Shawn and Jamey, they’re just fine. They got what they want and I got mine. I’m in my padded room with all the rest of you singing this song about Jamey and Shawn. Shawn and Jamey, they’re just fine. They got what they want and I got mine all mine. I’m in my padded room with all the rest of you and I feel fine… (One more time!) Shawn and Jamey, they’re just fine. They got what they want and I got mine. I’m in my padded room with all the rest of you and I feel fine… (One more time!) Shawn and Jamey, they’re just fine. They got what they want and I got mine all mine. I’m in my padded room with all the rest of you singing this song… Music and Lyrics © Matthew Ebel Entertainment

It’s alright, Danny, So you broke your father’s heart. God knows, he tried to lead you, he tried to play his part. But now he says God hates you and he doesn’t know your name. Well trust me, Danny, He feels your pain It’s okay, Danny, so you weren’t the ladies’ man. God knows you tried your hardest to fit in with the plan, but now, you say you’re different and you’ve heard God disapproves. Well, Danny, I can’t tell you how He moves Right or wrong, He’s heard your song and He can understand. The truth is nothing you can do will rip you from His hand. You’re crying, Danny, you think that life has come apart. God knows, inside you’re hurting, He hears it from your heart, but cool your fire with the words that come from God above: Jesus only looks at you with love. Chorus x2 Instrumental Chorus x2 Music and Lyrics © Matthew Ebel Entertainment

Take me apart and see what makes me tick. Take me apart, throw me up against a wall and see what sticks. And when you put me back together again I’ll be better than I’ve been. Am I your favorite project or am I just a toy? I look around at the strange, strange tools you employ. Between the trebuchet and rocket-powered Chevrolet I hope you’ve got some time today to play with me. Oh boy. Take me apart and see what makes me tick. Take me apart, break it down and get to work ’cause you’re my fix. And when you put me back together again I’ll be better than I’ve been. You know Adam and Jamie wouldn’t do what you do. Sure they’re all kinds of crazy, but they wear helmets too. And just like DMB I wish that you’d crash into me, I made a pot of sanity and tea. Just tea for two. Take me apart and see what makes me tick. Take me apart, baby give me all you’ve got ’cause damn we click. And when you put me back together again I’ll be better than I’ve been. Na na na na na na naaaa do you like being a slut? (x2) You hide behind your sense of pride while all the boys line up to ride. They know that you’ll put out no matter what, so na na na na na na naaaa do you like being a slut? Na na na na na na naaaa what’s it like being a ho? (x2) You cover up your virgin ears but they’re the only virgins here. Your mouth is only reaping what you sow, so na na na na na na naaaa what’s it like being a ho? So turn around, don’t let the door hit your fine ass on the way out ’cause no one’s buying all your crap, so can you hear them shout… Na na na na na na naaaa do you like being a tool? (x2) You flash around that diamond ring but you’re the trophy, not the bling. The irony’s too funny to be cruel. Na na na na na na naaaa do you like being a tool? You never heard this song before, but when we’re whistling we’re calling you a whore… (Whistle Chorus) Music and Lyrics © Matthew Ebel Entertainment

I wish I could be impartial, but I’m afraid it’s all my fault. I was not the one that wounded you, but I paid for the assault. I’ve been drinking like a vampire your dark blood in hopes to sate, but my black heart is not broken. It hopes that we’re not too late. Can you save yourself? Can you save yourself? There might not be time to wait for someone else. It’s too late to just apologize. Far too late for saving face. I just hope that we can turn around and not destroy the human race. You and I got a lot to talk about like all the useless things that we could live without: The piles of books we never read but can’t throw out, the magazines and faded jeans that lay around. They build up like insulation in our homes. They keep us cozy when we strike out on our own but it’s time to cast all that aside. All these things just give us someplace we can hide. We could paint the walls with all our hopes and dreams we kept inside. With all the things we’ve kept inside We could fill this empty room with furniture and promises for two. With all our hearts and minds and time together there is nothing we can’t do. There is nothing we can’t do to fill this empty room. And all the years that brought us stuff to fill our lives taught us both without these things we won’t survive. The games and photo frames with one of us inside- there is room for two if we could only try. We could hang a whole new life up on these walls filling in the space around as time goes on. All the remnants of my past can move along, we’ll have room for memories when those things are gone. I can say goodbye to all the things that keep me far from you and all the things you do. You and I got a lot to talk about like all the precious things that we can’t live without. Music and Lyrics © Matthew Ebel Entertainment

about

Matthew Ebel Seattle, Washington

I call myself a piano rocker, but I’m really just kind of a goofball. I’ve been playing the piano since age 5, discovered electronic music at 12, and made this stuff my career in '99. Since then I’ve played the Grand Ole Opry, been quoted in Rolling Stone, and made a name for myself in new media. I’ve been playing piano rock full-time since 2007 and since then I’ve never looked back. ... more
